about

Homecoming is a reflection of how much the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club has grown over its twenty year history. It showcases more players than any of our previous albums and explores new territory in tune writing and arranging. The Viking Set features our young players who chose the tunes, arranged them and recorded the set in one take! We are proud to feature original songs and tunes, including the exciting global collaboration between Scottish fiddle wizard Chris Stout and our own Neil Adam on the track Where Cold Night is Falling Fast. This track is just one example of the strong Shetland presence on the album, the result of the exchange program so generously sponsored by Bill and Dianne Sides. 2015 was an exciting year for us
as we celebrated by performing at many new and familiar festivals, and collaborating with musicians such as Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas. September saw us achieve a long-held dream of travelling to Scotland to learn more about the music and share our own unique take on it. With present and historic family connections to Scotland and many musical friendships to rekindle, it was a true homecoming. Here’s to the next twenty years!
